Who we are
The Shanghai INNOVA Management Institute, founded in 2003 as a wholly foreign-owned
enterprise of German origin, has established itself as a premium quality provider of innovative
training solutions for multinational corporations operating in China.
We are widely known for the monthly held executive workshop 'Leadership for Expatriate
Managers: How to lead local Personnel' which combines consulting, training and exchange
of experiences in an unique fashion and has attracted hundreds of participants from major
multinational corporations.
Our inhouse programs are typically conducted in close cooperation with the general
management: They are the ideal format for a management team consisting of foreign
and local managers to practice collaboration and problem solving.
During the seven years of its existence, the Shanghai INNOVA Management has won a
customer base of more than 200 multinational clients and developed a comprehensive

DR LAURENZ AWATER
Since its foundation the Shanghai INNOVA Management Institute
is led by Dr Laurenz Awater. Laurenz is a political economist and
China expert from Germany whose China experience dates back
to 1985 when he was studying at Beijing University for two years
with a scholarship from the DAAD. Laurenz who spent 11 of the
past 25 years in China, is a fluent Mandarin speaker and works
as corporate trainer and executive coach for cross-cultural
management and leadership.
