This intensive one-day seminar introduces the three stages of procuring a new facility in China and gives participants the opportunity to discuss issues related to facility construction in China with a highly experienced expert.

Our speaker, Mr Ian Riley, is the General Manager of the SIP Group Shanghai (Sino Infrastructure Partnership) which is a UK-invested, China operated wholly foreign-owned enterprise with offices in Beijing, Suzhou and its headquarters in Shanghai.

Established in 1993, SIP is a leading multi-disciplinary project management consultancy company with 75 employees (including 10 expat managers) providing engineering and construction services to international clients seeking to build, expand or refurbish facilities throughout China.

Mr Ian Riley will cover the following;

Stage 1: Concept (project definition, execution and delivery strategy)

Stage 2: Design (design management, statutory approvals management, tender management)

Stage 3: Construction (construction management, contract administration, commissioning and hand-over).

   

 Course content are risk assessment, responsibility matrix, project definition, approval process and budgeting. There will be enough time to discuss individual questions or to look at project specific examples.

-- how professional project managers assess and avoid risks by defining the project correctly

-- about the advantages and disadvantages of the different procurement strategies such as Design and Build, Turnkey, and Design divorced from Construction

-- the importance of generating an all inclusive project schedule and budget

-- how to engage the local design institutes and how to manage the statutory approval process without project delays and increased costs

-- how to administer the tender management process including the pre-qualification of contractors, creation of RFP documentation, evaluation of tender submissions and contract negotiations.

-- how project management companies can ensure the successful delivery of the project in line with the time, quality and cost expectations of a client.
